Mauritania\u2019s Ministry of Animal Development announced\u00a0 the launch of a national artificial insemination campaign targeting dairy cows in the Hodh Ech Chargui region, as part of a government plan to improve breeds and boost livestock productivity.<\/p>\n
The campaign was inaugurated in the city of N\u00e9ma by Minister Mokhtar Ould Gaghe, in an official ceremony attended by local officials, representatives of beneficiary cooperatives, and Mohamed Baba Gueye, Director General of the National Office for Livestock Research and Development and the Pastoral System.<\/p>\n
The program aims to inseminate around 1,250 cows, with 50 cows per cooperative, in what authorities describe as a key step toward developing the region\u2019s so-called \u201cMilk Basin\u201d as a local source of dairy production.<\/p>\n
