In response to the government\u2019s statement regarding the import of chilled poultry from abroad, the Egyptian Poultry Association confirmed that daily production levels of chicken and table eggs are high and fully sufficient to meet domestic consumption, with a surplus in production.
\nThe Association explained that poultry product prices are governed by supply and demand dynamics. It noted that the recent increase in chicken prices to around EGP 85 per kilogram during the current week is a natural result of a sharp rise in demand, as many Egyptian households, restaurants, and charitable organizations operating Ramadan iftar tables have been stockpiling poultry products in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
\nThe Association pointed out that this surge in demand and the accompanying price increase are temporary and are expected to subside at the beginning of Ramadan, when consumption returns to normal levels and prices stabilize accordingly.
\nThe General Union of Poultry Producers also reassured poultry farmers that the state places great importance on supporting producers, encouraging increased production, and preserving the sector, in recognition of the positive contribution of the poultry industry to the Egyptian economy. The Union urged producers to continue entering new production cycles and to maintain current production levels.
\nWith poultry products sufficiently available for consumers, the Union stressed that there will be no need for imports, particularly as prices are expected to decline at the start of Ramadan.
