
The year 2025 witnessed an unprecedented qualitative leap in Egypt’s livestock and poultry sector, according to a report reviewed by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, highlighting the sector’s achievements in facilitating licensing procedures, implementing biosecurity standards, improving performance, and boosting exports.
Dr. Tarek Suleiman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, confirmed that the sector achieved record-breaking results in 2025, most notably:

- Issuance of 10,870 operating licenses for livestock, poultry, and feed projects, including 3,685 licenses for small-scale breeders.
- Registration of 8,247 feed formulations (5,395 locally produced and 2,852 imported) in line with standard specifications.
- Approval of 610 technical permits for new projects in desert hinterland areas.
- Conducting technical tests for 497 feed mills, comprising 1,104 production lines (poultry, livestock, and fish).
- Allocation of EGP 1.06 billion in 2025 to the National Veal Project, bringing cumulative funding to EGP 10.05 billion, benefiting more than 45,000 breeders.
- Upgrading 300 milk collection centers to date, with investments exceeding EGP 517 million.
- Carrying out over 250 inspection campaigns, seizing 187 tons of non-compliant feed, and preventing the entry of 550 tons of substandard feed additives.
- Organizing 113 training seminars for small breeders, distributing 270,000 laying hens, and supplying 750 trays of eggs daily at discounts of up to 25%.
- Full digital transformation of licensing and service procedures through online platforms.
Record Production Growth in 2025
- Red meat: 600,000 tons (+8% compared to 2024).
- Fresh milk: 7 million tons (+8%).
- Broiler chickens: 1.6 billion birds (up from 1.4 billion in 2024).
- Eggs: 16 billion eggs (up from 14 billion).
- Rural chicken: 360 million birds (+12.5%).
