HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie participated in a field trip on Monday 1 July 2024 as part of the coral reef survey project being carried out by the ministry.
The objective was to follow up on efforts to protect and develop the marine environment, and to confirm the country’s commitment to protecting its natural resources, a statement said
The trip included a series of field activities aimed at assessing the condition of coral reefs and working to develop appropriate plans to preserve them
This step comes as part of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s (MoECC) ongoing efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and protect biodiversity in Qatari waters
The minister stressed the importance of such initiatives in preserving the marine habitats of Qatar and enhancing awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environment to ensure its sustainability for future generations
Participating in the trip were the Commander of the Joint Special Forces HE Major-General Jassim bin Ali Mohamed al-Attiyah, the Environment Directorate of the Ministry of Defence represented by Brigadier-General (Technician/Air) Mohamed Yousef al-Jaida, a number of senior officials in the MoECC, a group of researchers, and marine environment activists
