Egyptian Poultry Association: Over 20% Production Surplus Ready for Export

Egypt

The Poultry Industry Committee of the Egyptian Poultry Association held its first meeting, chaired by Engineer Mahmoud Al-Anany, President of the Union, with the participation of senior board members and heads of specialized poultry divisions.

During the meeting, the Union confirmed that Egypt’s poultry industry has achieved full self-sufficiency in poultry products, including chicken meat and table eggs, with a production surplus exceeding 20% of total output, making it well-positioned for export to international markets.

In an official statement, the Union noted its ongoing cooperation with the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation to open new export channels for Egyptian poultry products in Arab and African markets. The statement emphasized that Egyptian poultry meat and table eggs meet international quality standards, are internationally certified, and are fully capable of competing globally.

The Union also stressed that the poultry sector is subject to continuous monitoring and testing throughout all production stages—from farms to final consumers—under the supervision of the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Animal and Poultry Production Sectors at the Ministry of Agriculture.

Regarding pricing, the Union clarified that poultry prices are governed strictly by supply and demand mechanisms, with no artificial inflation. Recent price declines were attributed to increased supply, while year-on-year comparisons show a decrease of more than 30% in poultry meat and egg prices compared to 2025.
The Union further announced the readiness of its affiliated slaughterhouses and egg production companies to supply all governmental needs, reinforcing domestic production as a reliable alternative to imports.

The Association rejected claims of exaggerated poultry price increases ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, citing the availability of production inputs—such as chicks, feed, and vaccines—along with stable foreign currency conditions and continued support for producers of all scales, especially small-scale farmers.

In closing, the Union urged media professionals to rely on verified, specialized sources and avoid unsubstantiated statements, in order to protect the stability of a sector that represents a cornerstone of national food security.
The General Union of Poultry Producers is the official institutional body representing the poultry industry, with Engineer Mahmoud Al-Anany serving as its official spokesperson.
