Egypt- Ministry of Agriculture Settles the Debate: No Hormones in Poultry, Our Products Are Completely Safe

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has categorically denied claims circulated in a widely shared video on social media regarding the safety of agricultural crops and poultry production. The Ministry’s Media Center clarified that allegations about the spread of non-compliant pesticides or the use of hormones in poultry
are entirely unfounded and lack accuracy.

Agricultural Pesticides in the Market
As part of its commitment to clarifying facts to the public, the Ministry affirmed that all agricultural pesticides available in the market are subject to a precise and stringent registration process carried out by the Agricultural Pesticides Committee. This committee comprises a select group of scientists and experts, and no compound is authorized for circulation unless it has passed rigorous field trials and laboratory analyses to ensure compliance with international standards issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Ministry added that the Agricultural Pesticides Committee supervises the implementation of the “National Plan for Monitoring Pesticide Residues in Fruits and Vegetables in Local Markets,” to ensure that pesticide residues do not exceed globally permitted safe limits. During the 2025 season, the program included the collection of 4,760 samples from 34 fruit and vegetable crops, gathered from 20 central markets across 17 governorates nationwide.
