Egypt -Ministry of Agriculture Issues 468 Operating Licenses for Livestock and Poultry Projects in the First Half of February
Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the issuance of 468 operating licenses (new and renewed) for livestock, poultry, feed production activities, and milk collection centers during the first half of February 2026.
Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, reviewed the efforts of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, based on a report submitted by Dr. Tarek Soliman, Head of the Sector, highlighting key achievements during the period. These efforts come in line with directives to facilitate procedures for breeders and investors, ensure full compliance with biosecurity standards, simplify licensing processes, and support export growth.
During the first half of February 2026, EGP 297.36 million was approved for 425 beneficiaries to raise and fatten 4,251 head of cattle under the National Veal Project. Total project financing has now exceeded EGP 10.35 billion, benefiting around 45,535 small-scale breeders, young graduates, and women in “Decent Life” initiative villages, with more than 526,760 head of livestock financed to date.
The Ministry also registered 294 feed mixtures, additives, and concentrates (190 local and 104 imported), in cooperation with relevant research authorities, in addition to issuing 22 technical approvals for new livestock and poultry projects in desert hinterlands.
Technical inspections were conducted for 42 feed mills comprising 94 production lines (poultry, livestock, aquaculture). Additionally, 12 inspection campaigns targeted 22 feed factories and stores to prevent monopolistic practices and price manipulation.
Six extension seminars and practical training sessions were organized for small breeders. The Ministry also supplied table eggs and frozen poultry at discounted prices (20–25% below market rates) through seasonal exhibitions and mobile outlets.
Export approvals were granted for aquafeed, feed additives, processed poultry products, and frozen poultry (quail, duck, pigeon, turkey) to several Arab and international markets.
The Ministry expanded digital applications for mechanized licensing services through Egypt’s digital platforms and mobile applications to streamline procedures and accelerate service delivery.
